Week 5:: Re-Duke

After some consideration, I decided that my earlier "Duke tribute" show was rather disgraceful, so here is a much better sampling from the great font that is Ellingtonia, plus a few other choice cuts to round out the hour.

Back to Jazz, and happy about it.

How many weeks do I have to wait before you spin some Ted Nash?

R Weber said...

a few more. I like his Odeon group and a couple others, but when you only have 1 hour per week, Nash gets to wait in a long line behind the likes of John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, and yes, even Chris Potter.

Any specific recommendations to make me reconsider?

Ah, I can always smell a Pot(ter) head. As for the Nash recommendation, we'll let that one cook in the burner.

Instead, I recommend "Soul Reggae," by organist Charles Kynard from his album Reelin' With a Feelin' (found on the compilation CD Soul Brotherhood).

Deny me once, shame on me; deny me twice, shame on you.

May I suggest E.S.T? Good to hear you Ryan.

glad you could check in. EST would be a great call (tragic about Svensson's untimely recent demise though), but it's a fight to see if Tomaz Stanko can beat them to the playlist.
